Component 3 - Risk Assesement

This blog is written by me (Theo)

Reflection: By conducting risk assesement we can be more aware about the risk that we take for every action that we did during our shooting location

Component 3 - Film Schedule

So this is the filming schedule

Note: The not in order date is because we revised the schedule according to our actor's availability since our actors also have a Job from her modeling agency

Reflection: By having the filming schedule can reduces the miscommunication on the schedule and everyone can be on the same page. Making a schedule also allows us to draft on what will be the theme for today's shot and what properties and equipment should be bring to the shooting location

Component 3 - Production

Day 1 (28 December 2023)

On the first day we are having the shooting day for the Lip sync scenes where we focuses on constructing the Lip sync part. The scene was plan to act as self reflective phase where she will be alone with blank spaces as time doesn't exist.

Problems: We didn't really plan on the shot list and how our artist should act during the lip sync scene so at the end we wasted lot's of time during the set.

Solution: we will try to inform our artist and try to do some rehearsal before arriving at the shooting location or far away before the production day

Day 2 (21 January)

On the second day of production we are having the "Play Date Scene" in Ikea. The team arrived at around 4 pm. After all the members and actors arrived we do some short rehearsal that this scene would be them acting naturally without any guidance and the camera man (me) will just try to documented the moment

Problems: We didn't know that camera's aren't allowed to use inside the Ikea store

Solution: Since we have no other choice we have to use one of our phone camera member to documented the scene since we have arrived.

Day 3 (27 January)

On the third day of the production we were having the "parking lot date" in Lotte mart parking lot. This scene will be about how the artist is waiting for her boyfriend where the scene will be the introduction of the music video.

Problems: The weather was very cloudy where potential rain is likely to happened

Solutions: We have prepared our umbrella and raincoat so we can still proceed to the shooting.

Day 4 (3 February)

On the fourth day of the production we were having the "Picnic in Car day" in Pantai Nyanyi where this scene will be the about the couples having fun while slowly started to fade away. Since the location is quite far from our place we decided to to a full day shooting production and do the "Realization day" where she will be alone and showing she realize that her boyfriend has gone for good. We also decided to do the photoshoot there as we have spend quite a lot for renting the place

Problems: There were sudden rain where the team was force to leave the place.

Solutions: We have to wait for the rain to stop and luckily the rain stop after we finished our lunch and we were able to countinue the production phase

Day 5 (17 February)

In the last day we did our last shot on cafe for making the cafe scene where everything goes as we planned where we can get our desired shots as the owner of cafe was very cooperating.

Here's the behind the scene (a little bit humurous)

Reflection:

The production and filming of our music video demanded extensive planning, innovative strategies, and quick decision-making, all of which my team and I successfully employed. Despite encountering various challenges and having to abandon some initial concepts, our teamwork and determination enabled us to overcome obstacles and continuously enhance our video. While I'm proud of our overall performance, I acknowledge that certain problems could have been avoided with better preparation, such as securing filming locations and addressing late arrivals through improved communication and planning. Moving forward, I aim to maintain our collaborative spirit and problem-solving abilities while learning from the mistakes made during this project, which will undoubtedly benefit me in future endeavors beyond A-Level Media Studies

I shot the video with Sony A7iii, Fujifilm XA-5 and Iphone 12 pro and with 35mm lenses. Sony A7iii has a very quick focus mode where it's very essential in making our music video. The use of Iphone 12 pro is also crucial in recording the behind the scenes where this will help us in track with the project. The use of Fujifilm XA-5 is important for doing photography as the strength is having a more vibrant colour depth compared to the Sony A7iii. I also used the blogpost itself for recordings and journaling my pre production, production and post production. Media technologies are heavily contributing to my project where the internet allows us to find and cross check references and looking up for what’s the meaning of the song and watching her interview about the song give me more understanding about the song deeper. The weather forecast in the phone really helps us in predicting the weather where most of our shooting location is outdoor. The software that I used is premier pro where it’s one of the most known editing software where this software really helps in compiling the files and scenes.

BLACKPINK

BLACKPINK's digipack, viewed through a media studies lens, encompasses a carefully crafted blend of design, imagery, layout, and symbolism to communicate the group's brand identity and convey thematic elements of the album. Employing a bold and vibrant color palette, the album cover and inner pages feature high-quality, visually striking images of the members, contributing to a cohesive visual narrative. The layout and composition follow a strategic design, utilizing consistent elements to guide the viewer through a visually appealing journey. Iconography and symbolism, including specific symbols or icons, add layers of meaning, while textual analysis involves examining lyrics' presentation and formatting. Technological elements, such as augmented reality or interactive features, may enhance the user experience, and the digipack may also embed cultural and societal references to deepen the audience's connection. Overall, this holistic approach reveals intentional choices made by the creators to engage the audience on both visual and thematic levels, making the digipack a crucial component of the overall media experience.

From BLACKPINK's digipack, several features stand out as commendable and inspiring. Firstly, the vibrant color palette, bold typography, and high-quality imagery create a visually striking and cohesive aesthetic that aligns seamlessly with the group's brand identity. The consistent layout and composition guide the viewer through a well-structured visual narrative, contributing to a memorable and engaging user experience. The incorporation of symbolism and iconography adds layers of meaning, fostering a deeper connection with the audience. Additionally, the potential use of technological elements, such as interactive features, showcases an innovative approach to enhancing the overall user experience. However, it's essential to acknowledge that preferences may vary, and there could be aspects of BLACKPINK's digipack that might not align with certain project goals or personal preferences. For instance, if a more minimalistic or subdued visual style is desired, the bold and vibrant aesthetic of BLACKPINK's digipack might be considered too energetic or overwhelming. Additionally, the use of certain symbols or imagery may resonate differently with diverse audiences, requiring careful consideration of cultural sensitivities and context. It's crucial to discern which features align with our project objectives and target audience and which may need modification to better suit our specific goals and aesthetic preferences.

BLACKPINK

BLACKPINK's Instagram page is a masterclass in visual aesthetics and strategic curation. The arrangement of each post reflects a meticulous attention to detail, with a harmonious blend of vibrant colors and a consistent visual theme that resonates with the group's energetic and stylish image. The use of striking visuals, whether from performances, photoshoots, or behind-the-scenes moments, keeps the content dynamic and engaging. The clever mix of promotional material, casual snapshots, and fan interactions creates a well-rounded narrative that resonates with the diverse interests of their global audience. The inclusion of relevant information, such as release dates and announcements, ensures fans stay informed while maintaining the allure of exclusivity. Overall, BLACKPINK's Instagram page is not only a platform for promotion but a carefully curated visual journey that captivates and connects with fans on a personal level.

It's a brilliant strategy to position your MV teaser video prominently in the center of your social media feed, flanked by the release schedule on either side. This not only creates a visually striking and cohesive layout but also effectively captures the audience's attention even before they delve into the specific content. By utilizing this arrangement, we're enhancing the anticipation and ensuring that followers immediately encounter key information about the upcoming release. The symmetry and balance of the layout contribute to a clean and organized aesthetic, making it easy for your audience to navigate and engage with the content. Following BLACKPINK's lead in this approach demonstrates a thoughtful consideration of visual storytelling, allowing your social media presence to convey information effectively while maintaining an appealing and professional appearance.

Positioning our digipack post in the center of your social media feed, surrounded by MV-related photos on the right and left, is a smart and visually cohesive approach. This layout not only ensures a clean and organized aesthetic but also creates a narrative flow for your audience. By featuring MV-related content on both sides of the digipack announcement, you are providing context and building anticipation for the overall release. This strategy encourages followers to engage with your content holistically, enhancing their experience as they navigate through your feed. It also allows you to maintain a thematic consistency, reinforcing the connection between the MV and the accompanying physical release. Just like BLACKPINK's effective use of visual storytelling, this approach can effectively capture your audience's attention and create a compelling and immersive social media experience.

BTS

We are considering the concept of sharing multiple photos derived from photoshoots featuring our artists, aligning with the themes of our songs and music videos. This approach, similar to BTS's strategy in promoting a solo track, intends to provide a visual narrative that reflects our artists' image and the essence of our songs. The objective is to offer the audience a glimpse into the visual aesthetics of our music videos, allowing them to anticipate and connect with the themes portrayed.

KESHI

We've observed that Keshi's social media posts, while not as meticulously organized as those of BTS or BLACKPINK, uniquely capture his persona as both a celebrity and an everyday individual. We are considering adopting a similar approach for our social media pages to enhance the connection between our artists and the audience. Our goal is to maintain authenticity, showcasing a genuine and relatable side of our artists.

In addition to embracing a more casual and personal aesthetic, we aim to incorporate a consistent color palette that resonates with the themes of our songs and music videos. This intentional use of colors not only aligns with the artistic vision of our content but also contributes to shaping the desired image for our artists.

By combining this approach such as using personal pictures, behind the scenes and concert post, focusing on authenticity and using a thematic color scheme, we aspire to create a visually compelling and emotionally resonant online presence. This strategy seeks to strengthen the bond between our artists and the audience, fostering a deeper connection by offering a more intimate and genuine glimpse into the lives and creative processes of our musical talents.
